At present, he is an economic and political analyst of Eritrean affairs. Before the Eritrean independence in 1991, he was a member of the Eritrean Peoples’ Liberation Front (EPLF), the organization which fought for the freedom and independence of Eritrea. In a 20-year period after Eritrea became independence, he held different positions both in the Eritrean government, as well as, in the ruling party, the PFDJ.   For the first10 years, he was a senior official within the Economic Department of the ruling party, the PFDJ.  He was at the head of some of the huge corporations owned by the ruling party, such as, Himbol, the money transfer enterprise, and Red Sea, (better known as “09”), a trading corporation. For the last 10 years, Mr. Dafla Hosabay was the CEO of the Eritrean Airlines, (the national airlines), Director of the Tax Authority, Director of the Treasury, and Director of Public Debt.  He represented Eritrea to IMF, World Bank and economic delegations to other countries.
